TEACHING

Choral Background 

From ages 12 to 18, Tory was a member of Boston City Singer's Tour Choir, enabling her to travel to South Africa, Costa Rica and Argentina throughout those years. Now, Tory is an active choral educator locally, as well as abroad. As a conductor, Tory has worked with artistic director, Mark Singleton, for Primi Voci, a high school treble choir within the Connecticut Children's Choir program. Tory has also helped direct choirs at the Philadelphia International Music Festival as well as The South African Youth Choir within The University of Western Cape located in Cape Town, South Africa. Currently, Tory is anticipating teaching the Boston City Singers' Training Chorus beginning January of 2021.

Music Direction

Tory recently completed a production as the music director for The Prism Project, a program that provides musical programming for children with disabilities. This program is funded by Hartt School Community Division within the University of Hartford. Tory has also held a music director position at several English language schools located in Florence, Italy for academic summer programs.

General Music Education

Within the classroom, Tory has been involved in several public schools including Marblehead Community Charter Public School, Lynn Public Schools, University of Hartford Magnet School, Emerson Williams Elementary School, Annie Fisher Middle School, and Simsbury High School. Tory has also worked with specialized schools such as the Athlone School for the Blind in Cape Town, South Africa. Most recently, Tory completed her student teaching at Manchester and Bloomfield Public Schools in Connecticut and plans to continue a field in music education for the following academic year.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Since teaching English as a Second Language in Florence, Italy in 2018, Tory has been passionate about ESL Education. Due to this passion, Tory recently received her CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. When she isn't teaching music, Tory works with a Canadian based program to provide ESL education to South American countries through various virtual courses. In addition to the classroom setting, Tory also teaches ESL privately.
